If you're planning a quiet weekend and are on the hunt for a quick, comforting treat, this mug cake fits the bill.
Shared by BBC Food, courtesy of Sarah Cook, this microwave cake recipe can be prepared in a mere five minutes.
The quantities are for one person, but if you're entertaining, you can easily whip up more for your guests.
For those who prefer a variety of desserts, there's also this carrot cake mug cake, which cooks in a matter of minutes.
BBC Food stated: "Made in less than five minutes from start to finish, this must be the quickest, most satisfying pudding for one!"
To make the cake in an 800W microwave first find a suitably-sized, microwave-safe mug.
In another mug, combine the butter and milk and microwave in 10-second bursts, swirling after each interval until the butter has melted.
Stir in the vanilla, followed by the sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the dry ingredients with a fork until smooth, then transfer the mixture to the clean mug.
Position the mug in the middle of the microwave and heat for one minute on high.
The sponge is ready when it feels firm to the touch. If it's not quite there, continue microwaving in 10-second bursts until it's done.
Serve it warm straight from the mug. It pairs beautifully with ice cream, cake frosting, a spoonful of jam or lemon curd.
You could also serve it with cream and fruit.
