A smartphone for a bottle of wine? In the northern Italian city of Verona, a restaurant is now offering a bottle of red wine to all customers who hand in their phone before dinner. The owner of Ristorante Al Condominio, Angelo Lella, told Radio Number One: "There's no reason to look at your phone every five seconds. For some people, it's like a drug. This way, they have the opportunity to set it aside and enjoy a good wine."

Guests must lock away their phones to get free wine

A bottle of wine is only provided if visitors agree to lock away their phone in a small cabinet at the entrance before dinner. According to the innkeeper, 90 percent of guests are happy take up the offer. Other restaurants in Italy have been distributing vouchers for some time now to customers who agree to put their phone away.
